Balcıoğlu Selçuk Akman Keki Attorney Partnership continues to support Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“Vis Moot”) as partner Doğan Eymirlioğlu and associate Fulya Görer served as arbitrators at the 25th Vis Moot held between 23rd and 28th March 2018 in Vienna. They have also participated in various conferences and meetings held during the week, alongside many international practitioners from all around the world gathering together for the Vis Moot.
Vis Moot’s aim is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international commercial disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train legal professionals of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution. 2018 was the 25th year of the competition, where teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both claimant and respondent positions.
This year 362 teams from all over the world participated and this year’s problem concerned the challenge of an arbitrator, impartiality and independence thereof, incorporation of standard terms and role of ethical behaviour in the conformity of the goods.
