Balcıoğlu Selçuk Ardıyok Keki Avukatlık Ortaklığı (“BASEAK”) represented Şans Dijital ve Interaktif Hizmetler Teknoloji Yatirim A.S. (“Şans Dijital”), a subsidiary of Demirören Holding in establishing a joint venture with Sisal (Sisal Şans) for a bid regarding the privatization of the Milli Piyango, Turkish national lottery.  

The deal was awarded by this year’s Deal of the Year Awards organized by CEE Legal Matters. BASEAK partner Dr. Selim Keki led the deal. 

Demirören Holding which holds a 51% stake in Sisal Şans via Şans Dijital, actively operates in energy, media, real estate, tourism, digital and gaming industries. Sisal, which holds 49% in Sisal Şans, is one of the biggest platers in Italian gaming industry. This investment is the third overseas investment of Sisal, after its recent entries to Spain and Morocco. 

The privatization of Milli Piyango was authorized in 2019 by Turkey Wealth Fund (TWF), which holds the licensing rights for the Milli Piyango lottery operator. Starting from June 2020, Sisal Şans will manage portfolio of games, instant lotteries and online games.
