Following our numerous publications on competition law and economics, the Competition and Regulation Department of Balcıoğlu Selçuk Akman Keki Attorney Partnership herein sheds light on Rebate Systems, an area in which we specialize.

New types of infringements with regard to retailers, consumers and suppliers, along with previously inspected infringements, have been introduced to the competition literature in the past years. Infringements by firms regarding exclusivity and foreclosure of markets have been subject of many investigations carried out by the Turkish Competition Authority. Therefore, rebate systems should be designed from a legal and economics perspective, with consideration to the rules of competition.

We are delighted to share a paper drafted by Senior Associate Belit Polat, summarizing the local and international approach to rebate systems. Belit also points out legal and economic standards and provides practical guidelines for firms to assess their rebate systems.
