BASEAK team, led by Senior Partner and Head of Corporate and M&A Galip M. Selçuk, successfully assisted the leading Turkish online food delivery company Yemeksepeti on the sale of its shares to Delivery Hero, the global leader in online and mobile food ordering, valued at US$589 million. This is the largest acquisition ever made in the online food ordering sector.

Turkish food ordering platform was launched 15 years ago and is today an extremely popular brand in Turkey, processing over 3 million orders each month across its markets. In addition to operating in its domestic market, the Company is notably active in the contiguous countries where its platforms provide food ordering services.

Delivery Hero, the global leader in online and mobile food ordering, headquartered in Berlin, founded in May 2011 and operating in 34 markets across five continents with around 1,500 employees. It is the largest food network in the world with more than 100,000 participating restaurants with more than 12 million meals are delivered globally each month.

BASEAK team led by Galip M. Selçuk has also advised Yemek Sepeti on its previous domestic and international investments and represented the shareholders before the investors.

In the deal, BASEAK and Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP acted as project co-counsels; Gleiss Lutz as German law counsel to the shareholders of Yemeksepeti and Loyens & Loeff as Luxembourgish law counsel. Dentons participated in the transaction as local and international law counsel as well.
