Selçuk, counsel Tulu Harsa and associate Cemre Demirkaya, and Dentons partner Ian McGrath, successfully advised İskenderun Demir ve Çelik Anonim Şirketi ("İsdemir"), a group company of Oyak Mining Metallurgy Group, on the incorporation of a joint venture with Linde Group to build a new air separation unit at İskenderun premises of İsdemir.

BASEAK and Dentons advised İsdemir from the beginning where the parties negotiated the terms of the letter of intent for the transaction and carried out its hard-work throughout the deal by advising the client during drafting and negotiation sessions.

Established on 3 October 1970, one of the Erdemir Group companies, İsdemir is Turkey’s third oldest integrated iron and steel plant by its establishment date and the largest by its long product manufacturing capacity. İsdemir is Turkey's only integrated plant that produces long and flat products with a hot rolling capacity of 3.5 million tons/year commissioned in 2008.

The Linde Group is a world leading supplier of industrial, process and speciality gases and is one of the most profitable engineering companies. Linde products and services can be found in nearly every industry, in more than 100 countries.

The air separation unit is designed to daily generate 1,700 tons of oxygen and nitrogen to İsdemir per day, increasing Isdemir’s nitrogen production capacity by 70% and oxygen production capacity by 60%, through a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) business model, and it is the largest air-separation operation undertaken by an industrial gas company in Turkey. This partnership is the first international joint venture formed by OYAK Mining Metallurgy Group in its history over 50 years.
