Balcıoğlu Selçuk Akman Keki Attorney Partnership continues to support Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (“Vis Moot”) as partner Doğan Eymirlioğlu and Associates Ali Can Gören, Fulya Görer and Denizhan Uslu served as arbitrators in the 7th Istanbul Bilgi Pre-Moot organized by Istanbul Bilgi University with the contribution of Istanbul Arbitration Centre (ISTAC) held on 17th and 18th February 2018 in preparation of the Vis Moot for the teams participating from Turkey.

Vis Moot’s aim is to foster the study of international commercial law and arbitration for resolution of international commercial disputes through its application to a concrete problem of a client and to train legal professionals of tomorrow in methods of alternative dispute resolution. 2018 is the 25th year of the competition, where teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both claimant and respondent positions.

This year 362 teams from all over the world are participating and this year’s problem concerns the challenge of an arbitrator, impartiality and independence thereof, incorporation of standard terms and role of ethical behaviour in the conformity of the goods. Most students participate in the pre-moots over the world in order to prepare for the competition to take place in Vienna, Austria, this year between 23rd March and 29th March 2018.
