BASEAK has delivered a valuable presentation titled "Distribution Agreements in the Pharmaceutical Sector" within the scope of the Competition Law Seminars hosted by Istanbul Bilgi University. 

On April 2nd, 2024, BASEAK participated in another session at Bilgi University discussing Algorithmic Pricing. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emin Köksal, Partner Bora İkiler and Senior Associate Gediz Çınar successfully delivered an in-depth analysis of Algorithmic Pricing that is becoming exponentially popular in competition law.  

The presentation shed light on types of algorithms, how they are used for pricing, how they should be approached, and potential competition law risks they may cause. The object of this informative discussion was to determine whether there is a need for revision of existing competition law rules to deal with different types of algorithms and algorithmic pricing in general. 

Algorithmic pricing has recently been on the radar of many competition authorities. With the Turkish Competition Authority recently showing an increasing interest in an investigation on this issue, it is important to comprehend into the inner workings of these algorithms used by undertakings. Accordingly, the presentation concluded there may not be a need for revision regarding rules for a certain type of algorithm where there is a dire need for revision of the approach for another type.
